Types of hats you love to know

There were days when hat was only used as a headpiece to protect from the sun, the rain and other weather conditions. But as time passed, it became a symbol of social status and professional rank. Besides all these attributes, hats became an irreplaceable part of fashion world used by both men and women. So let’s have a look at the broader classification of hats based on their style and shape.

1. Fedora hat

Fedora hats are the most common worn hats usually made from the material ,wool  felt having a brim varying from short to medium, a creased crown and band around the crown. A fedora is actually a broad category that often comes in an array of other styles and brim shapes.

2. Panama hat

 Most people have a wrong notion that panama hats were originated in Panama but they actually pioneered in Ecuador and later their extensive use during the Panama Canal construction gave it that name. Panama hats are made out of  a special light weight“Toquila” palm straw and are typically covered by a black coloured band around the crown.

3. Boater hat

 Boater hats were commonly used for boating and sailing activities and hence the name.They are normally made of straw material characterised by small to medium sized brim and a flat topped crown emebellished with a double tone band around the crown ( not necesserily). Boaters are also known as skimmers and sennit hats.

4.      Bucket hat

Bucket hats are timeless headpieces that work both as a stylish and utility wear better well known as fisherman hats.They are usually made of cotton,denim or polyester blends featured by a small sloping brim take after a bucket shape.

5. Derby hat

 A derby hat is always identified with a wider brim usually adorned with dramatic elements like ribbon with feather or flower embellishments provide a better sun protection besides making you look snazzy.

6. Beanie

A beanie is the type of hat which is made of wool or cotton material is usually worn to provide warmth for head in cold weather rather than being a style statement.

7. Baseball Cap

Yeah as the name suggests it was anciently used by the baseball players in America and perhaps called America’s national hat. But now they have  become an essential part of our everyday fashion staples.A baseball cap comprises a fabric crown and a visor that protects from the sun.

8. Visor hat

 Visor hats are often worn by people who engage in sports activities that comes without a crown having a wider visor or brim designed for the purpose to block the sun.

9.  Newsboy hat

Newsboy hats or baker boy hats fall in the category of super stylish hats and are perfect for a cool casual look.They are characterised by a petite brim and a button at the top.

10.  Flat cap

Flat caps also known as the "cabbie hats"are similar to newsboy hats in some ways.It has a very short and round visor.

11.  Beret

Berets, the round flat crowned hats now have become a fashion statement piece. Surprisingly you can bring out a retro style by adding a beret on to your outfit.
